Blues Foundation continue working with Fun 4 Young People

Since January we have been working closely with Fun 4 Young People, one of Bedford’s leading charities supporting young people, to roll out our Be You programme across schools in the county.

Since 2021 Fun 4 Young People have been an independent charity supporting children across Bedford Borough, however the organisation and their passion for supporting children started in 2005.

They have become a crucial piece of the jigsaw for our Be You programme, their staff have been working in partnership with our staff and young people to promote resilience, empowerment and self-confidence.

What is Be You?

Be You uses the power of sport and physical activity to support and empower young women and girls by developing life skills, physical wellbeing, and mental wellbeing. Be You is delivered for females and by females, with staff using their own experiences to support young people through their journeys.

Rugby’s core values are incorporated throughout the programme - Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline, Sports(wo)manship. We help young females understand how these values can support their everyday life.

Speaking about the partnership, Tom Harwood, Head of Foundation said:

“It has been fantastic working in partnership with Fun 4 Young People to plan and implement Be You. We have both been working across the Borough for a number of years, they are a fantastic organisation and it is brilliant to continue working in partnership to support children in our county.”

Sophie Stock, Fun 4 Young People Chief Executive Officer, said:

“The aims of Be You Programme align with our own outcomes and values for supporting young people in Bedfordshire. We have worked with Blues Foundation since they were established, supporting our service users through the challenges of the pandemic and cost of living crisis. We recognise the importance of partnership working to strengthen our services in order to extend our offer within our communities, and are proud to continue our partnership into the next academic year.”
