Blues Banger Rally arrive in style!

11 countries in 4 days… our Blues Banger Rally finished in style this July!

The Blues Banger Rally was created to raise money and awareness for Bedford Blues Foundation. Each year the Foundation reaches over 3,800 children through sports and rugby interventions with the aim to develop softer skills in young people.

Using the power of rugby, sport and Bedford Blues, the Foundation delivers a number if different programmes with schools, charities and local groups across the county. Funding is vital to enable the Foundation to deliver these programmes and change the lives of young people in our area.

Teams set off from Goldington Road on the 3rd July in cars worth no more than £1,500. Porec, Croatia was the destination via eleven countries and over 1,200 miles, arriving on Saturday 7th July.

We are pleased to say that all cars made it, with routes through the Alps the most challenging for some of the cars including several stops to allow for engines and brakes to cool down.

Along the way, stops included Lake Konstanz, the Zugspitze Viewing platform, Lake Bled, and stunning scenery through Austria, Switzerland and Croatia.

Nine teams took part in a range of cars to varying standards, alongside a support vehicle and mechanics totalling 36 people.

We are delighted to announce that the event raised close to £40,000 for Bedford Blues Foundation and will enable the charities to extend its work across the town and county wide.

Thank you everyone who took part and help organise the banger rally, if anyone would like to donate you can do so here: https://bedfordbluesfoundation.enthuse.com/cf/blues-foundation-banger-rally-2024
