Ryan Robinson to run London Marathon for Blues Foundation

We are over the moon to announce Bedford Blues Media Manager, Ryan Robinson, secured a ballot place in this year’s TCS London Marathon and has decided to run on behalf of our charity to raise vital funds for our future work.

Since inception in 1981, participants in the London Marathon have helped raise over £1 billion for charitable causes with a record £66.4 million being raised for the 2019 edition. In what is our first association with the London Marathon since launching as a charity in April 2020, we hope to be able to garner support to continue providing much needed services across Bedfordshire.

Through previous fundraising initiatives – including two TRY January campaigns, the 2021 Bedford Half Marathon and a charity race night – we have been able to design further flagship activation alongside continuing our proven existing provision as well.

Speaking about the event, Robinson said: “It’s a no-brainer really to be running on behalf of Blues Foundation. I have been able to see first-hand how much of an impact the charity has already had within Bedfordshire and hopefully any money raised can go towards existing activation but also to look at even more ways to help those in need within our community.

“The COVID-19 pandemic continues to have an impact on everyday life, whether that be financially, physically or mentally, and it’s really important that we continue to rally around our community to offer support when it’s needed. It will be extremely rewarding running on the day knowing that the effort will go towards providing that help to those who need it most.”

Before partaking in the 2022 TCS London Marathon, Robinson will undergo a gruelling training schedule designed by Bedford Blues Sports Therapist, Rudi Chaplin who ran the race in 2021.

One of the less daunting and somewhat easier elements of the regime will be taking part in the Blues Foundation Bedford 10k on Sunday 26th June. We are delighted to be sole charity partner for this event and look forward to spreading the message of our charitable aims and objectives to even more people when they descend on Bedford for race day.

Having already completed two fundraising initiatives for our charity in the last 18 months, we’re humbled to learn Robinson is looking to complete the hat-trick by taking on his first full marathon to again allow us to continue providing our much-needed services across Bedfordshire.

As well as individual donations, there are numerous opportunities for corporate businesses to get involved including placing your logo on the shirt Robinson runs in on the day! Please contact tom@bluesfoundation.org.uk to discuss different options and packages.
