Christmas Holiday Provision Success

Blues Foundation were delighted to ensure numerous young people in the local community had an extra special Christmas with activities taking place over the Festive period.

Over 150 young people benefited from Blues Foundation delivering Holiday Activity and Food (HAF) projects at two locations within Central Bedfordshire; namely Sandy Sports Centre and The Dunstable Centre.

Both projects consisted of a plethora of fun and enjoyable activities, all with a particular Christmas theme, and ranged from multisport activities, board games, team building exercises and even a magic show which took place at both locations.

For those lucky enough to be on the Dunstable project, there was the added bonus of a trip to The Grove Theatre to see the production of Aladdin.

Every young person was given a hot lunch each day alongside a food parcel and an activity pack to take home to enjoy over the Christmas holiday.

One parent said:

Our daughter loved the activities, the panto was brilliant and she really enjoyed it. Your staff deserve 10/10 for the amazing work you have provided to these children!

To conclude the project in apt style, Blues Foundation hosted a Christmas Party in the Blues Marquee at Goldington Road for all eligible families. This consisted of a buffet lunch, children’s entertainers, live music and Christmas crafts. Each child also left with an activity pack to open on Christmas Day.

The Christmas Party, alongside the projects themselves, were kindly funded and supported by Central Bedfordshire Council and Bedford Borough Council. Blues Foundation were again delighted to link up with both authorities and look forward to further projects in the future.

The UK Government’s Department of Education last week announced further funding support for the HAF projects throughout 2022 across Easter, Summer and Christmas. Blues Foundation are again excited to deliver these projects at times where children most need to remain active and nourished during their school holidays.
