Blues Foundation were delighted to provide Multi-Sport provision throughout August, directly impacting on the lives of over 80 young people in Bedford Borough through the four-week programme.

Blues Foundation teamed up with Bedford Blues Community to showcase and deliver sports sessions in a fun, safe and inclusive environment across four different venues within the borough. The programme was aimed at supporting children from disadvantaged backgrounds and provided an outlet for them to socialise, meet new people and be physically active.

Supported by Bedford Borough Council and The Harpur Trust, Blues Foundation were able to have a positive impact on the lives of these numerous young people, teaching important core values and life skills through rugby, football, cricket, golf, team building and much more.

Blues Foundation Manager, Tom Harwood commented: “It was fantastic to provide these activities for vulnerable young people across the borough. This is exactly the audience that the Blues Foundation is aiming to reach, using the power of sport and exercise to be able to support these young people through such a difficult and uncertain time.

“We were very conscious of the current restrictions around COVID-19, but the Bedford Blues Community team did a fantastic job in adhering to the guidelines, resulting in all participants stating they felt safe throughout the week.”

The Multi-Sport provision had a massive impact within the local community with a parent, whose children attended the provision, saying:

“My children loved spending mornings with Blues Foundation and have thoroughly enjoyed every session. They have really loved finding so many other sports they like and had so much fun with the coaches.”

Blues Foundation will shortly announce a new set of community outreach programmes for the remainder of 2020. Keep checking our website and all social media channels to hear first about the new initiatives!
