Blues Foundation 10K and Half Success!

We would like to thank everyone who played their part in ensuring a fantastic race meeting last Sunday which saw over 400 participants take part in the Blues Foundation 10K, Fun Run and Half Marathon.

This was the second year running a Summer event with Blues Foundation as sole charity title sponsor, and first in partnership with Active Training World who we will be working alongside in years to come.

In addition to these race meetings, Blues Foundation are also one of the charity partners of the Bedford Running Festival Weekend every September, with this also recently taken over by Active Training World.

Amid a mixed Summer weatherwise, the day came with glorious running conditions and allowed numerous people to set their personal bests, overcome challenges and barriers, as well as have great fun by helping raise money for our charity.

With people flocking in from outside Bedford as well as the town itself, we were humbled to see everyone’s support for Blues Foundation as we looked to spread our vision and ethos to as many people as possible who may not have previously heard about our charity.

All the proceeds raised on the day and through fundraising for the event will go to support our future work as we look to continue our current activation offering as well as increase provision and look into alternative routes to supporting those in our local community.

In particular, we are extremely proud of Blues Foundation Ambassador and Bedford Blues Women’s Captain, Emma Graham who smashed her goal of running a first ever competitive 10k while raising a large sum to allow us to continue our work.

Running in tandem with Bedford Blues Media Manager, Ryan Robinson (you can see their finish line photo above) the duo managed to set an impressive personal best for Emma who is still on the road back to full fitness from an ACL injury suffered last September.

Raising now close to 200% of her initial fundraising total, we are extremely grateful to Ryan and Emma for their support of our charity on the day and leading the way in the race! You can still donate to Emma’s fundraiser by clicking here.

Speaking about the event, Ryan said: “This is the third time I have been involved in fundraising efforts for Blues Foundation in terms of a running capacity and this completed a personal full circle journey.

“At that first running fundraiser, the 2021 Bedford Half Marathon, I had Blues Second Row, Oli Curry running alongside me and providing the motivation to get to the finish line. This was my way of doing the same, giving something back and helping Emma’s charitable cause, I am so proud of her especially the journey returning to fitness and delighted to again be involved for Blues Foundation.”
