Rugby & Reading Project Success!
The merging of Blues Foundation and Bedford Blues Community last month has provided an expanded pool of resources creating one streamlined community function promoting sport, rugby, health and education.
This merging will allow Blues Foundation to continue their current offering of activation, while taking on board new provision previously conducted by Blues Community. With an expanded pool of resources, Blues Foundation are determined to continue helping all those in the community who need it across a wide range of skillsets.
One project that has actually remained consistent throughout this period in terms of its delivery and offering is the award winning ‘Rugby and Reading’ programme, led by Head of Delivery, Adam King and taught by the Blues Foundation team across primary school and other educational facilities throughout Bedfordshire.
A perfect blend of improving literacy skills and physical health and wellbeing, the Rugby and Reading programme has been one of the most uplifting and important projects, inspiring confidence within all participating students.
Running since 2016, with numerous special Bedford Blues player visits throughout this time to join in with comprehension tasks and outdoor practical rugby, providing bespoke experiences and lasting memories for everyone.
Head of Delivery, Adam King said:
“The most rewarding element of a long-standing project such as the Rugby & Reading initiative is you can clearly see the progression of students from the very first session right the way through across several years.
“It’s been fantastic to work with so many schools across Bedford on this project and it’s really exciting to see how we can further expand the project and help even more people in the local community.”
We are proud of our working relationships with educational providers in Bedford and look forward to strengthening these existing partnerships even further into the future.
