Blues Foundation are delighted to announce that over 100 digital devices have now been collected to help The High Sheriff of Bedfordshire’s attempts to tackle digital poverty in the county.

Earlier this week, Blues Foundation were proud to team up with national supermarket chain, Sainsburys and one of the UK’s leading digital retailers, Argos to donate some digital devices taking the total past the century mark after just two weeks of the campaign.

Further donations from Bedford Guild House, Cambria Wealth Management and several individuals across Bedfordshire have also been collected.

These devices, alongside others collected by the High Sheriff, were sent to Veritas Digital Services, who undertake an extensive secure data erasure procedure on each device donated, to Government standard (HMG Infosec 5 enhanced), ensuring no data remains on any device.  They then clean, repair, refurbish and install any required programmes on each device before they are then distributed to help young people have greater access to online learning.

Blues Foundation Manager, Tom Harwood said: “We are so grateful for all the donations we have received, issues around digital poverty are more wide spread than people realise, these items really will support young people access the education they are missing.”

The challenges presented by digital poverty are still prevalent across Bedfordshire and we are determined to continue having an impact and helping those in need. Donations are still being accepted, please email info@bluesfoundation.org.uk if you can support.
