Laptops delivered across Bedfordshire schools
Today 540 digital devices were distributed across schools countywide and Blues Foundation were delighted to deliver a proportion of these to Bedford schools, as the High Sheriff of Bedfordshire’s attempts to tackle digital poverty continues.
Some of these devices have were those collected from generous individuals in the county and through links with companies including Sainsburys, Argos, Cambria Wealth Management and Bedford Guild House.
These devices, alongside other collected by the High Sheriff, were sent to Veritas Digital Services, who professionally cleaned and installed any required programmes to help young people have greater access to online learning.
Blues Foundation were also delighted to help deliver these digital devices to those who could put them to good use; and stopped off at Castle Newnham Primary & Secondary School, Hazeldene Primary School and Bedford Free School. Further deliveries from the High Sheriff also saw schools in Luton and Central Bedfordshire receive donations.
The Office for National Statistics believe 12% of young people aged 11-18 have no internet access at all. We are proud to be making a worthwhile contribution towards tackling this problem in society and look forward to seeing the difference these devices make.
Blues Foundation Manager, Tom Harwood said: “It was fantastic today to see these devices go out to schools, the response to the call for second-hand devices has been brilliant, I’m please we can now show exactly where these donations are going and they really will help.”
The challenges presented by digital poverty are still prevalent across Bedfordshire and we are determined to continue having an impact and helping those in need. Donations are still being accepted, please email info@bluesfoundation.org.uk if you can support.
