Blues Foundation Vision Document 2021-2024
Blues Foundation are pleased to share its vision document which will be used to steer the charity’s work and maximise impact within the local community over the next three years.
Since official launch over 15 months ago in challenging circumstances, Blues Foundation have been able to use the time productively to understand the needs required with Bedfordshire amid its variety of communities and diverse population, already impacting on over 500 people with pilot schemes and outreach activation.
The purpose of the vision document is to give the wider general public and supporters of the charity a clear message as to what Blues Foundation intends to do, why we are targeting specific demographics and how we are planning to meet the demands of the local community now and in the future.
A consultation period with key local stakeholders has been ongoing since Autumn 2020 including partner organisations, charities, local authorities, supporters and Blues Champions, alongside beneficiaries of our work.
This consultation, alongside some of our flagship activation so far including Tackle LIFE and Ability BLUES, have steered our direction and work strands as highlighted within the vision document. Included within this are some key statistics:
- 20.2% of children in Bedford Borough are obese
- 41% of adults in Bedford Borough do not do enough exercise
- School exclusion rates higher in Bedford Borough than the national average
We are determined to tailor our outreach programmes to impact on statistics such as these while improving positive physical and mental wellbeing, creating inclusive opportunities and developing skills in young people and the wider community.

To celebrate the launch and exposure of our vision document, we are pleased to reveal plans to hold some stakeholder engagement sessions in September to further share our vision and add further clarity for partners as to how they can get involved with our charity. These will be circulated in the coming weeks.
