Blues Foundation announce Digital Device collection

Following the huge success of the last 12 months in distributing digital devices to those who need them most in the local community, Blues Foundation are delighted to announce that a further collection will take place on Saturday 19th March at Goldington Road.

In partnership with Veritas Digital Services, who Blues Foundation have worked extensively with over the past 12 years, individuals and businesses are encouraged to head to the Scrum Bar at the home of Bedford’s premier sporting club to donate unwanted items which can be refurbished and handed to someone in the local community.

*If you are a business looking to offload a large quantity of digital devices, please contact Veritas here.

While COVID-19 restrictions are easing ever further, the demand for digital technology to support growth and learning is still prevalent in society and Blues Foundation want to continue having an impact within Bedfordshire and impact on the lives of as many people as possible.

Throughout 2021, close to 2,000 digital devices were given a new home thanks to the then High Sheriff of Bedfordshire, Susan Lousada’s campaign to ensure that educational facilities and especially people without any other forms of technology were able to access education online, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns.

The support and generosity of the #BluesFamily in helping with this campaign was exemplary and resulted in Blues Foundation receiving a High Sheriff of Bedfordshire Award for their efforts in the initial campaign. Click here to read more on the award.

Now we want to take things even further and continue to support the development and learning potential of Bedfordshire residents, creating a higher percentage of young people with access to online learning and therefore the key resources required for exams and coursework.

Similarly to the Bedford Foodbank collections of the past two years, Blues Foundation will hold a collection to increase the amount of items they can distribute in the local community. Why not drop something off on 19th March then head down to the capital to support Bedford Blues on Mike Rayer’s 500th game in charge of the club against London Scottish.

There are plenty of other opportunities to support Blues Foundation including this Friday night with a Charity Race Night in The Burrow at the Blues. Still time to get tickets but hurry; there’s just a few days to go to enter the Winners Enclosure, please click here.
