Support Pat Tapley's Christmas Day Charity Cycle!
Support Bedford Blues winger Pat Tapley as he partakes in a mammoth fundraising cycle this Christmas to raise vital funds for Blues Foundation and local primary school, St James' CE VA.
Tapley, who has made 99 competitive appearances for Bedford Blues and scored 48 tries, will undertake a gruelling 100-mile cycle on Christmas Day to help raise money for his two nominated charities.
Full details of the cycle and its location will be announced in due course, dependant on the latest government advice and protocols.
Tapley is Bedford Blues’ longest serving current player having joined the club in 2013/14 from nearby Cambridge. He has been a key figure since then, becoming the club’s top try scorer in his second season and also being named in Championship Rugby’s Dream Team.
Alongside rugby, Tapley has in the last few years worked as a teaching assistant at Biddenham based primary school, St James’ CE VA.
Both Blues Foundation and the school are close to Tapley’s heart with all funds raised for the cycle being split equally, ensuring further projects can be incorporated within the community. This will enable young people to have even greater learning opportunities in and out of the classroom in 2021 and beyond.

Speaking about the cycle, Pat Tapley said: “We all know how hard 2020 has been and the strain people are under. Hopefully, by raising money through this challenge, some of this strain can be alleviated.
“Blues Foundation have been doing some amazing work and any contribution to further their impact in the community is something I want to be a part of. St James Primary, like most schools across the country, are having to adapt to these new circumstances. So, these funds will go towards resources that will enable the teaching staff to continue providing quality education.
“I’m really looking forward to the challenge and fingers crossed for some good weather on Christmas Day.”
