Bedford College Group Enrichment Programme Begins
Blues Foundation have started delivering an exciting enrichment programme with Bedford College to develop students core life skills and vocational education with a specialist programme at Goldington Road.
As part of Bedford College’s ‘Advance to FE’ course, Blues Foundation will further extend their reach with local educational institutions by using the power of sport and education to focus on physical and mental health and wellbeing.
Through weekly three-hour sessions, this programme will primarily help all participating students with personal development, resilience, communication and teamwork skills.
Students will spend two hours in The Dovecote Park Suite to work on classroom-based activities, before a final hour spent on the training field getting active and improving their wellbeing.
Blues Foundation Manager, Tom Harwood said:
“We are so excited to put this bespoke programme together for Bedford College. This is the next step for Blues Foundation to make a real impact on young people, combining exercise and education to promote personal development and wellbeing.”
The ‘Advance to FE’ course provides opportunities for 16–19-year-olds to develop transferable skills to enable further learning in Further Education, Higher Education, or apprenticeships.
Bedford College are the leading advocate for learning within the local community through creating strong and productive links with external partners, and Blues Foundation are proud to be supporting this latest initiative using our own #SportForChange belief.
Both organisations have the ambition to become a leading and innovative provider of work-based and community-based learning, and while this is the first partnership both will work together on, there is the potential for further growth to extend all available offerings.
The delivery structure of this six-week project will be similar to Blues Foundation’s most recently announced activation, Tackle LIFE; which uses the values of rugby to promote discipline, resilience and teamwork. Read all about the project and how to get involved here.
